Equitation- A Development of Discipline

Equitation Effective Style and Correctness

Originally the Equitation discipline was not looked at purely from a competitive angle but was designed as an educational scheme as well. There are many Olympic gold's whose roots lay in Equitation.

Equitation means the art of riding correctly and in its broadest form covers most sections of equestrian sport. It is a training discipline for riders of all ages. The aim of Equitation is to produce effective stylish riders who could if they wish go onto compete in any discipline. The riders are judged, not the horses, so this discipline is excellent for competing where a specialised horse is not a pre-requisite, therefore it also makes a useful class in which to take a young horse or rider. Equitation will have its own distinctive rosette so that competitors will know that they are taking part in an official Equitation class.

Equitation is the art of Effective Style and Correctness

Traditionally Equitation has an end of the year champion whose prize is a stay in a professional stable; this would possibly be South Africa or the United States, so there is a lot to look forward to!

Also Equitation has its own rosettes which are identifiable with the sport; you will know that you are competing in an official class by its rosettes.
